UDG Student Reflections: Kuwait National Day
At the University of Dayton, we believe in celebrating and sharing our international students’ unique and incredible cultures. One of the ways we do this is through weekly themed Coffee Hours sponsored by UDayton Global.
Through food, guest speakers and special activities, we demonstrate that cultural differences can be unifying elements in our UD community. We encourage student involvement in planning Coffee Hour activities so students can share their experiences with their peers.
Past Coffee Hours have included a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, Lunar New Year celebrations, a fish and chips meal, an Irish dancing demonstration, career discussions with our Career Accelerator Manager and an Indian biriyani cook-off. In upcoming Coffee Hours, we’ll learn the fine art of sushi, chat with the Student Services team and taste some Spanish tapas.
At the February 25th Coffee Hour, we celebrated Kuwait National Day. Kuwaiti students helped to organize and promote the event. We had a photo booth, food and music. At one point, the attendees sang the Kuwait National Anthem together and performed some dancing. Then, some of the students wrote reflections on the experience during their Live, Learn, Grow classes.
UDayton Global Coffee Hours are on Mondays in the Rike Center WEX Lounge. Check our main office in Rike 208 or follow our Instagram (@udaytonglobal) to find out what we’re celebrating!
